Don Bosco College, Sulthan Bathery offers very good collection of books, and secondary materials for the academic community. It has a computerized Library Management system with 13000 volumes, in addition there are Journals, Magazines and Dailies. The Library is envisaged to support the educational and research programs of the college by providing physical and online access to information, consistent with the present and the anticipated educational and research functions of the institute.

Basement floor

The Basement floor houses Under Graduate section, Reprographic (Photocopying section), Technical Section, Back Volumes, General reading area, UG reference section.

Ground Floor

In the ground floor Postgraduate section, Reference Section, Journals & Magazine section, New Arrival Section, Newspaper reading section, Property Counter, Librarians Cabin, Circulation Section, Internet Browsing Corner, Research section, CD-DVD Collection and Question Bank section are accommodated.

Library collection

The library has a very updated collection of Textbooks and Reference materials. In the form of books, 350 CDs, 15 Journals, 40 Magazines in both English and Malayalam. The library provides INFLIBNET service to the users.

Arrangements of the collection

Books are arranged on the shelves according to Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC), a scientific scheme of classification. This type of arrangement will help to keep the books on the same subject together with those on related subjects coming next to them. Open access facility is provided in the library to help the reader browsing the stack and selecting the books of ones choice.

Organizational set up

Our College follows a centralized library system. Additionally, the various Departments have their own Library Collection for immediate references. The college library building is functional and easily accessible and conducive for personal study and reading. It has an area of 15,000 sq. ft. in two floors - Basement floor and Ground floor.

Computerization

The Library offers Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) - a computerized catalogue service. All the books in the library are bar coded. This helps the circulation counter in issue and return of books quickly. Members are given bar - coded ID cards and books are issued on producing the ID cards.

The college has provision for E- Library, where faculties and students can freely access Online journals for their assignments, projects and research. The E- Library is kept open for during the whole day and is monitored by the library staff. A set of 10 computers with high speed internet connections are made available. The students can browse the internet and avail the various facilities. Every student is provided with INFLIBNET pass word for accessing online journals.

Don Bosco College, Sulthan Bathery is managed by the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB), a religious congregation of the Roman Catholic Church. The college believes and propagates that God is the source of wisdom and that it is God who enables intellectual, physical and moral wellbeing. Prayer moments are very precious and every activity in the college begins with prayer. To make real the presence of God in the whole endeavor of education, the college has a beautiful Chapel which is open for all spiritual needs. A Holy mass is conducted every first Friday of the month for all Catholic students. The Chapel acts as a spiritual constant and symbolizes the grace and love of Christ.

The Chapel also affirms the power of faith and provides a sacred space for praying for oneself and the world and also for thanking the Lord for all His mercies. Students frequent the chapel as individuals and in groups for prayer and blessing.

Don Bosco College has a well equipped Audio-Visual Hall with a seating capacity of around 200. It is furnished with wide projection screen, LCD projector, Sound system, computer, audio video terminals, a small stage, podium, chairs and a hall with wall and window curtains. The Hall is used for conferences, seminars, workshops, official meetings and also digitally supported classes.

The ambience of the Hall provides an academic environment for multimedia assisted learning and Interactive learning sessions. The AV Hall also allows group activities and thereby imparts attainment of group dynamics among students.

The college provides a newly built Canteen facility. Students frequent the canteen during their meal hours and intervals to enjoy delicious snacks, coffee/tea and meals. The canteen is well furnished with service counter, tables and chairs and wash space. It is well aerated and spacious enough for over 100 students at a time. The meals and snacks are served at a lower price than outside shops. On auspicious occasions, special menu is prepared and served. The canteen also provide food and snacks for various gatherings of the staff and students as per orders.
