Rev Dr Johnson Ponthempilly SDB is an educator with a specialization in the field of Social Work. He is a postgraduate in Social Work (specialization in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work) from the School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya, managed by the Institute of Social Service Mangalore of Karnataka State. He has an MA from Chennai University, Tamilnadu, and PGHRM from the University of Mangalore in Karnataka State.
Dr Johnson has carried out extensive research in areas related to mental health in relation to social support and spiritual well-being. His PhD thesis is titled “MENTAL HEALTH IN RELATION TO SPIRITUAL WELL-BEING AND SOCIAL SUPPORT”. He received his doctoral degree from Don Bosco University, Assam, in 2021. His research activities include paper presentations and publications at international and national conferences.
He presented a paper at the 4th MENA REGION ADOLESCENT HEALTH CONFERENCE held in Hurghada, Egypt, December 1-3, 2021.
Dr Johnson has also presented a paper titled “A Post Flood Exploration into the mental health and spiritual well-being of children in Kerala” in SWARAJ 2021, a National conference on “Children, Human Rights and Social Work” held on 25 & 26 June 2021, organized by the Department of Social Work, Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (Autonomous), Kochi, Kerala.
His other research activities include publications in journals like ADELAIDE Journal of Social Work and Journal of Mental Health Education, NIMHANS .
Dr. Johnson also closely associates with social concerns and works towards the creation of a drug-free, gender-aware and literate society. He is also the Vice-Rector of Don Bosco Institution.
